Drowsey (which is actually spelled Drowsy...but I can't spell) was one of my favourite dolls when I was a little girl. I think I got her from Santa in 1970 or 72...not sure.
Monkey (who is actually Mr. Bim...apparently that's what he was marketed as) was one of my sister's favourite toys. She got him from Santa in the early 70s as well, she was a teenager then and I guess this Bim guy was like the Sponge Bob of his day or something.
Anyway....
Fast forward to 2005 or thereabouts...and Sis and I have to travel back to our parent's home to prepare it for sale. During the cleaning-out process we found Drowsey & Monkey.
After a very long couple of weeks we eventually got the house packed-up and ready for sale...and as anyone who's done this for their parents knows...it's very difficult, both physically and emotionally.
So, needless to say...after a few weeks we were a bit giddy, exhausted, overwhelmed! We definitely got silly on the long drive back home (it was a 2 day drive.) So at some point we decided not to pack, or throw out, or sell Drowsey & Monkey and we carefully placed them in the car with us for the road trip back.
My original plan for this blog was to have Drowsey & Monkey travel around...have a few more road trips...take pictures of them in different and weird places...like those traveling gnomes...but that wore thin with me after a few days.
Eventually the blog morphed into what it is now...basically just me giving my 2 cents on the world, etc.
Since our return home...and to sanity, we've lost track of Monkey. We have a feeling he's nicely packed in a box somewhere...at least that's what we choose to believe. As for Drowsey, she sits here beside my computer for inspiration.

The Hotel Stay
And Now....
Drowsey has a spot beside my computer...and Monkey is comfy in lands unknown.
Yes, Drowsey has a pair of PJs on. Mom was a very talented seamstress and she would often make us PJs ... and a matching set for our dolls. During the clean-up we found these little PJs that were actually made for one of Sis' dolls (now long lost) but we kept them anyway as a nice reminder of what Mom used to do for us.
In the first pic Drowsey is missing her jammies 'cause I'm very clumsy and spilled some coffee...so I had to wash them. As you can see in the last pic she's in her jammies again...and makes a nice holder for my Bailey's.
